Stupid lady at Starbucks

SWMBO and I owned and operated a coffeehouse several years ago, as I have recounted here previously. Not only did we open carry inside the place, we posted a sign proclaiming weapons carried by patrons and customers were welcomed. Sometimes we had folks stopping in for 'show-and-tell' when they'd come across a new find.

I guess the guy who maid chain maille at the table in the corner at my place wouldn't find as hospitable a spot to ply his craft in San Diego, either.

Now that I've moved to Dallas you can't hardly sling a dead cat without hitting a Starbucks somewhere. I'm pleased to report there is a mom-and-pop coffee place just west of me where the owner (with his CHL piece) ran down and caught a guy who was stealing his computer one morning just as he arrived to open. He didn't get any newspaper space about it, but it did get an article in the local slick-paper neighborhood magazine.

The folks who work there are very pro-gun, and they make a much better quad breve` (aka 'heart attack in a cup')than Charbricks, and for about 2/3 of the price.

Needless to say, Starbucks hasn't gotten any of my money for some time.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Reminds me...

of a time back in my community college days. Our CC was in an industrial complex that housed a major military manufacturing contractor. No weapons allowed inside. Well, our little CC also had a very good Criminal Justice program, and attracted alot of local LEO. The complex used unarmed contract security.

Some morning, years back, I was already in class when a local LEO I knew came in for class after shift, in uniform. This particular department allows their officers to take their weapons home. He's half laughing/mad as he's coming in for class, so I ask him what's going on. He tells me the contract guard at the front desk demanded he surrender his weapon, citing the policy. Mind you, the officer was in uniform, just coming off shift. He stopped, not really believing she had just demanded his weapon. She again told him he could not enter with the weapon.

When he realized she was serious, he told her that if she could get from him, then she could keep it. Otherwise, he's going to class, and walked past her with out looking back.

Gotta love it

You can go to www.buyblue.org. They rate companies blue and red, according to which candidates they support.

Actually they rate starbucks based on the individual contributions of the executives that work there, not based on an official stance of the company itself. Starbucks does a pretty good job of staying politically neutral as a corporation.

The political makeup of any retail establishment is going to be a reflection of the people who work there, and the people who work there are representative of the location of that particular location. The Starbucks nearest me often gives discounts to law enforcement. And this is in the liberal mecca of Seattle, its just a part of Seattle that happens to like cops.

When I still patronized starbucks I routinely went in in uniform; some of the employees seem baffled or put off, but those who opened in my old district sure seemed to like the cruiser in front of the store at 545 am.
