Here's the thing, I moved to TN in November or December, but I'm still in NC resident.

I moved in with my mother when my wife walked out. I work graveyard shift, so I cant keep my daughter at night, and I cant watch her all day. Due to getting all my mail at a PO box, I cant prove that I live here. I have one utility in my name, the bill goes to my mother's PO box, and my street address isn't on it. So I changed my address with the CC companies, but had paperless billing, and didnt think about that till recently, so I still dont have any papers with my name and street address on it.

I have to be a resident of TN for 30 days before I can get a TN CHP. So, I thought, maybe get a FL permit till I get this straightened out. So I'm reading away, and saw this:

Unless you are serving overseas in the United States Armed Forces, you must currently reside in the United States (US)
AND be a US citizen or deemed a lawful permanent resident alien by Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship
and Immigration Service (USCIS). If you are serving overseas in the US Armed Forces, please submit a copy of your
deployment documentation. If you are not a US citizen, submit documentation issued by the USCIS proving you are a permanent
legal resident alien who has resided in the state of residence (as shown on your application) for at least 90 consecutive
days prior to the date the application is submitted.
Proof of residence includes, but is not limited to:
• Monthly utility, telephone, power, or cable bills, which show your name and address.
• Monthly pay stubs or other documentation from your employer, which show your name and address.
• Monthly credit statements, which show your name and address.
If you were born outside the United States and are now a U.S. Citizen, State and Federal law requires that we confirm your
citizenship status. Please send us a copy of any one of the following documents: a U.S. passport, a Consular Report of
Birth (Form FS-240), a Certification of Report of Birth (DS-1350), a Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570), or
a Certificate of Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561). These various documents are issued either by the US Department of
State or the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in the US Department of Homeland Security.
Okay, I see active duty military, lawful permanent resident aliens, and immigrants listed, but I really dont see anything about me. I dont know what the legal term is, but I was born and raised here. Do I still have to send 3 months of bills I dont have?

What really ticks me off about this whole ordeal is that NC doesn't do non-resident permits, but since I work in NC I still have to pay the damned income taxes.

Florida doesn't care...

You're requesting a Florida Concealed Weapons License as a non-resident. Florida doesn't care how long you've been a non-resident of whereever you're a non-resident.

BTW: Flordia "Resident" and "Non-Resident" licenses are identical.

What makes you think you'll get a Florida license in less than the thirty days you're trying to avoid waiting in TN?

For a FL resident, you only need driver's license, proof of having taken an approved CCW course, and $117. Oh, you have to apply at the Dept of Agriculture, and you have to schedule an appointment, and the waiting list is about 6-8 weeks. Then it's another 4 weeks or so before you get the permit. If you think you might need one, get started early.

+1 -- my non-resident permit took about four to five weeks to arrive by mail, and that was considered quick considering that it was taking FL up to three months to process an application.

The actual licenses are the exact same? There is no distinction?
Best as I can tell. There's nothing on my non-resident CWP that would seem to differentiate it from a resident permit.

Also -- the requirement for bills, pay stubs and credit card statements are part of the application package for non-US citizens who are resident aliens. As a US citizen, I did not submit any of that for my application package. All I did was show my (at the time) NJ driver's license to a notary public. Bring proof of US citizenship when you get the form notarized (US passport, or driver's license and an official copy or original birth certificate) just in case you're asked for it, and you should be good to go.

ETA: hmmm, I just looked on the FL CWP page, and I take back my comments about the bills, pay stubs, etc. However, I know I didn't show any of those items, just my driver's license -- and the notary went ahead and notarized my application form.

There is no requirement to submit bills/pay stubs, etc. These are simply alternates to a government issued ID, like a DL.

I dont. However, my CC bills arent due here for another two weeks, so it'll be at least that long before I can prove I live here and get my TN license, and then wait another 30 days before I can apply for my TN permit, which may take up to 90 days to process.

I dont think FL will take four and a half months to process...
