I had the chance to take a good look at a Keltec SU-16 in a local Kali gunstore. Man, what a cheap POS feel it had. I have no bias against plastic. The only handguns I own are glocks. But, this thing felt cheap and flimsy. I was really hoping this thing would be good. No luck.

Was it the new model or the old one? I am curious if there is any difference in feel between the 2...There S2K carbine doesnt "feel" like a real weapon to some but it kicks serious a$$ when it comes to performance...
I would suggest you try and shoot one before passing judgement...or if you want...you can buy me one and I will tell you how it is

My opinion is, I like the SU-16. And that's not just because I spent $450 bucks on it, and refuse to be disappointed for that much money. It's fun to shoot, rather cheap to shoot, and does what I need it to. Plus, having an integrated rail is handy, an integrated bipod is REALLY handy, being as light as it is is really appreciated, and not being "evil" looking can't hurt either.

Their first model is the only one I've seen in real life, and I haven't had a chance to fire it. IMO, it's a decent idea but... the plastic did seem a bit... cheap.
The newer ones look *ahem* appetizing.
Remember, the very first model AR-15 to be presented to Uncle Sam had cheap plastic bits that had a tendency to break easily and a bore that wasn't chrome-lined, leading to almost certain malfunctions in field tests. Nowadays, this forum seems to be torn in half between the AK lovers and the AR-15 lovers. (And the occasional FAL nut too )
It just takes some time to work out the kinks...
