sub 2000 question

The .40 takes Glock 22 mags. I'd guess the 9mm takes a Glock mag also.

it says that the 40 takes glock 22 mags and s&w series 59 magazines, it also says 9mm accepts glock 19 mags as well as baretta 92 series mags and some sig magzines as well as many others, but I haven't me anyone that has tried the sr9 ags yet.

My Sub-2000 uses S&W 59 series mags. They had other options (Glock etc),but the SR9 wasn't even out at the time. Unless those mags are copies of some mag the Sub-2000 was availible in, I would say no, but I can not be sure.

The guns were set up to use one type of mag, not multiple types. You just got to choose which.

I keep telling them they need to tool up a new model that takes XD mags, but so far nothing.

You may want to look at an XD 9mm mag and a Beretta Mag. My understanding (hearsay FWIW) is that the mags are almost the same and the XD only requires a new cut to lock in. Thus a Beretta style Sub 2K could use XD mags if they were cut.

I have a Beretta Sub 2K and will try it if I find a cheap XD mag.

I have been considering one as a back pack gun and was always under the impression that they used all of these magazines through some marvel in engineering but alas I will have to choose, my consideration isn't which magazine is the cheapest but rather which is most available should I find myself in a "shtf" situation.

Wow, an XD mag Sub2K in 9mm would be RIGHT on my shopping list if they ever made one.

Same with a Sub2K in .45 auto that takes Sig 220 mags, or 1911 mags.
Edited to add: WAIT! a .45 auto Sub-2000 that takes 1928 Thompson mags!!! YESSSS~!

Pretty please, KelTec?

Kel Tec does not currently make a Sub that takes Ruger mags that I am aware of. The options are Glock, Sig, S&W, and maybe Beretta (not sure).

Rugers are crappy guns. Get a glock...

Gimmie a break.

Make mine a .40, but yeah.

A few others I'd like to see from KelTec...

SU-30Carbine (GI mags of course).
SU-45WinMag (uses GI .30 carbine mags, barrel/bolt swap, new gun, viola!, and legal for Indiana deer hunting). This would be a great subgun caliber.

So there's three guns they could sell me.

I also think a Sub-2000 in 7.62x25 Tokarev would be the bees knees for a lot of people.

i have a sub 2000 question, i have 2 sub 2000 for 9mm 92 mags,, they have always shot all types of ammo without issues,, but are they realy dependable or have i been lucky,, they look and feel cheap,,, but work?

Ruger is Anti-Gun. Why dont you go give you money directly to the Brady Campaign, then you dont have to have a crappy gun with lots of recalls.

I would LOVE a Sub-2000 (or any inexpensive quality carbine) in 7.62x25mm.

Dan, that's rather funny...considering Glock practically pioneered the modern abusive testing regimen. You WERE joking...right?

Show me any proof that Ruger contributes to the Brady Campain and I will buy you a steak. The P89 has never had any recalls by the way.

I will not sit here and say that Ruger is without it's faults (recalls, Bill Ruger saying "No honest man needs more than a 10 round magazine") But the early model guns are just as tough as Glocks.

You WERE joking...right?

I am not joking at all.

Dan, that's rather funny...considering Glock practically pioneered the modern abusive testing regimen.

Just because a company "practically pioneered modern abusive testing regimens" doesn't mean they are the greatest, or toughest handgun company in the world. I bet dollars to doughnuts that if a third party company put a Ruger P89 through the same test it would perform as well or better. That remains to be seen.

I won't say that glocks are not tough as nails, but the statments above claiming that Ruger supports the Brady campain, and that they are crappy guns is flat out false. Just my .02

Hey, I'm not claiming anything about current Ruger politics, because I really don't know what they are now.

BUT- I am 100% certain a Glock 17 will beat a P-89 when it comes to abuse no handgun should reasonably be subjected to...

Back in the day, this comment may have had some merit... but 'ol Bill Ruger has since passed on. The company now supplies all of their guns with standard capacity mags just like everyone else.

Never heard of a P89 blowing up. I have SEEN a Glock 19 break though. I can put a handload that will destroy a Glock through a P89 with no problems. If you are 100% sure, I would like to see the tests that were performed on both guns.

I am 100% sure, but haven't had the time to find the research, though, last I heard, there was a 17 that had well over 100,000 rounds through it, had been dropped by a helicopter, run over by a truck, etc.

This I'm aware of, and it shows that it is one tough pistol, no denying that. Hell, the guy that did the test even shot the slide with a .22lr and it barely left a mark. The fact remains that a P89 has not been through the same tourture tests.

I am 100% sure,

When a P89 has been through the same tests, then you can be 100% sure, fair enough?
