ABC is asking people to submit questions for the upcoming Democratic debate. The questions can be emailed to [email protected] or you can post a question in video format. See http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/BeSeenBeHeard/story?id=3078388

They are taking submissions until the end of the day August 15th. I sent a couple of questions:

Question:

When elected president, you will swear an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States . Can I count on you to preserve, protect and defend the second amendment of the constitution by vetoing attempts of the legislature to infringe the right of the people to keep and bear arms that are suitable for militia service and are commonly referred to as assault weapons?

Question2:

I have always thought that the second amendment’s protection of the right of the people to keep and bear arms is the ultimate proof that our government truly is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people; because as long as the government is not allowed to infringe the right of the people to have militarily effective weapons, it will never be able to force its will upon the people. Some in congress are currently trying to pass an assault weapons ban that would effectively nullify the second amendment. Would any of you preserve, protect, and defend the constitution by vetoing an assault weapons ban?

Also, you can submit a question for the Youtube Republican debate up until Sept. 16. See http://www.youtube.com/debates

I imagine the more 2nd Amendment questions that get submitted, the more likely it will be that one of them will make it through the selection process.

This is something really simple we can do to remind presidential candidates of both parties that we are very interested in this issue.

Once you've submitted a question, share it with the rest of us.
