I used 4227 in my plinking load, Berry's 220gr plate spire point bullet (right). Of all the powders I tried the 4227 load was the quietest that was subsonic and still cycled my 9-inch 300 BO.

Interesting I started with 4227 when I started working up a load for my subsonic hunting load a 220gr Maker REX (left). Despite the same bullet weight something about going to the all copper Maker bullet changed the burn profile enough that it would not cycle reliably. I had to switch to 1680 to get this bullet to cycle reliably and be subsonic.

I use Ac1680 for that bullet, but I load them for either a 8" or 10 barrel. Both with pistol length gas. So my load data is no help. They work well and are quiet. Chrono at around 1025fps. I had a buddy take a deer with one a couple of months ago at about 40 yards. Said it dropped him pretty quick.

i had a chance to shoot both a ruger ranch bolt gun and two different ar carbines with a pistol length gas systems. the load was a 200gr round nose traditional bullet and 4198. both of the ar's functioned perfectly. was impressed. dc.
