Five of us flew from Calif to Pierre, SD. We stayed at the "Shur Shot Lodge" and shot prairie dogs on their property and two of their neighbors. We shot for two days.

The first day was great. The second started off slow and ended well. Cool and windy the 2nd day.
- I shot the most pDogs and shot one at 548 yards. I was stoked! Could have shot many more but was shooting long and it was pretty hard to hit over 400yds with 223. The long shot was in light wind and I held 18" to the side, hitting him in the neck. I also tried some much longer and gave up quickly as that seemed a joke.
I fired almost 250 rounds, mostly the first day. In the future, I'll take 250 rounds per day of ammo. I had taken twice that much. Factory M77 Varmint & Burris Signature 6-24X, handloads on Dillon 650XL.

* We were very happy with the lodge and hospitality at the Shur Shot. The lodge is only 10 months old and they really need more customers, so keep them in mind. Their main thrust is pheasant and deer. The deer hunts are not guaranteed, but could be. They hunt on their sisters 10,000 private acres where the hunting load is kept near zero. Don't tell them, but their prices are also excellent.

I'm going to help them on their web site, but here it is at this point: www.shurshotlodge.com
40 miles south of Pierre, SD.
The lodge is much nicer than shown in the photos. New, roomy and nice. Not fancy, but very nice. Six or eight double rooms each with bathroom & shower. Full bar service available as well. You can tell they are new to this, but try very hard. They certainly deserve more customers!
