Wondering who has experiencing successfully, reliably & safely mounting a bayonet to a mossberg maverick 88 shotgun? Or a similar knife, such as the K-bar I have.

They used to sell reproduction heat shield/bayonet mounts such as were fitted to Winchester M97 and Stevens trench guns in WW1, but I havent seen any in stock in a couple years.
Ooooo, looks like Sarco has them again-

These would accept the M1917 rifle bayonet.

Looks like NC Star makes one for the M500, I think these would work on the Maverick as well-

Ths one takes a M9 bayonet.

The US military does, with other shotguns as Nightlord 40K shows, and that's where it should stay. Zombies aren't real, you're not on a police/NG line holding off rioters, nor guarding POW's. Otherwise, they tend to be more trouble than they're worth.

Besides, you would not want to use a bayonet with that Grip Pod on the 88. It would be awkward, and the grip angle would reduce the force applied and make it harder to control.

The Winchester 97 trench gun heat shield with 1917 bayonet lug only fits Winchester 97 shotgun barrels with grooves cut for the mounting screws on the heat shield.
Carl's right, it would definitely require some fitting to work with a Mossberg barrel, but replacement Maverick barrels are cheap enough. Im assuming the OP knew there would be some light machine work involved. Good point.
