Gents:

I'm thinking about treating myself to a new long eye relief scope for my Yugo M48. It will be forward mounted (obviously) in a scout configuration. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a well made, but reasonably priced scope? I don't want to break the bank scoping a moderately well shooting milsurp rifle, but I don't want garbage either.

Thanks for your suggestions.

You simply can't beat a used Leopold M8 EER scope off eBay for the money.

It has a lifetime warranty if there is something wrong when you get it for $125 bucks or so.
And the eye relief is right for a scout mount on a rifle.

Thanks RC. I swear, you're an encyclopedia of firearms knowledge. As for the rifle you posted, can you still use the apperture sight with the scope mounted? And what firearm is that?

It's a marlin 1894P Guide-Gun in .44 magnum.
It is a discontinued model now.
Which is a real shame!

No, you can't use the peep sights with the scope in place.
But it's in Quick-release rings, so it comes off fast if necessary.
And goes back on in zero if necessary.

Quite frankly?
There is really no need for back-up iron sights with the Leopold M8 EER scope in place.

It's never been off since I put it on 10 years ago!
