my class is k garden 1st &2nd. grade.
my 6 year old sons in my class so i have a special interest in it , i get to teach him all the things my dad tought me. in a christian forum.
this is an assembly of God (petnycostel) church in texas.

now for the gun stuff. im reading over my lesson plan, sent to me from the church headquarters from wherever, and i see a pic of a 1911.
well im on the ofensive to start. thinking its a ban guns from your kids deal.
:what: to my suprise its pro gun, its a lesson on gun safety for kids.
proper handeling. what to do if you find a gun. who to tell.
its got the gun rules, all guns or loaded etc.
it got a pic of eddy eagle the nra spoksmen for kids and guns.
the best thing is i get to go over guns and safety with my kid.
And i get to influence other childeren in a positive light to guns and safety.
overlook my spellin pleas

Hi Smitty, you must be teaching one of the Royal Rangers courses. My neighbors are Assemblies of God and taught that course for years and years and have a lot of great stories about camping out at that big bend area camp.

Most churches these days are either anti-gun or studiously avoid the issue altogether, so it's nice to see that not everyone has turned issues like guns political.

Our church "hosts" a boy scout troop. Of course the curriculum itself isn't religious but the leaders and most of the kids are from the church.

Anybody know where I can find this info??????This is something I could use w/ our kids a church..(not AOG but penticostal).....sound like somebody's doing something right.....

Eddie Eagle is part of our elementary shool program. You can get a copy of the tape from NRA headquarters for around $12.

Thankfully my church being anti is one thing I don't have to worry about. I mean we got the pastor a new 30-06 rifle for "pastor appreciation day" about 2 years ago. How's that for a pro gun church?

stand-watie. it is a royal ranger program.
ive been teaching it for about 5 years now started with the 10-11-12 year olds. then went to the little kids when my oldest went in the program.
we take the boys camping and fishing, and teach the bible, but suprisingly enough just talking and listning to most of the boys is what they want.
i have 2 or3 hours on church night where i talk to them and not at them.
im not blaming the parents for not doing this, ive got 2 boys(3yrs&6yrs)old and i know we get in a hurry with life, this class gives me a chance to talk with my son in relaxed setting where i learn a lot from him or about him.
i cant wait for my youngest to be in my class.
all the sons envite there fathers on the campouts and it gives us all a time to slowdown and talk.
by the way my wife also teaches a girls class and loves it.
my father told me once if we dont envolve ourselves in our kids lives someone will.
thanks for the kind words guys.
as always GODbless:D
