Gonna head to my local LGS today to see the SRH. Will report back.

My only reserves on the SRH are it's "Only a momma" looks. All i hear is that it's a great gun.

On the BH, I wish it had the rounded trigger guard. The one I'm looking at has the Dragoon styled guard. But I hear great things about it as well.

First world problems, all around.

The dragoon trigger guard is a non-issue. If you grip Ruger's SA plough-handle grip properly (low) the gun will recoil with plenty of muzzle rise (correctly) and you will never make contact with the squared-off guard.
The SRH is intended to be gripped high and the recoil will push more straight back.
Some folks never get the hang of shooting the SBH-- I find it much more comfortable than shooting a typical DA revolver. Besides that, it just looks cool! Good luck with your choice!

Do not forget the regular Redhawk Hunter... I have a couple of them and the trimmer frame and the ruger scope mounts are great and when remover the gun is not as bulky as the super redhawk... Did I say I like mine ;)

If looking at Blackhawks, you would really do yourself justice to look at a Super Blackhawk Hunter. The rib on the top of the barrel gives you a place to mount the scope without having to D&T the frame.

The Bisley grip makes it a fine shooter and very suitable for hammering away at full boogie 44mag loads all day.

Given a little tweaking it has the potential for being a superb shooter.

I own and use both SRH's and SBH's, both are great revolvers. Can't say either is a "wrong answer".

As always, the DA SRH has an advantage for speedier loading, unloading, and reloading at the range. On the other hand, the slower SA loading process of the SBH adds a little rest time for your revolver, which can help mitigate a little heat at the range.

No denying the SRH will be easier to scope, but once you get the top strap D&T'd on the SBH, it's a moot point.

In .44mag, I shoot my SBH's more. I run 454 and 475L in SRH's. I do most of my shooting the last year from a .357/44 Redhawk - I wish it were an SRH some days, to give me the advantages of the 2 spring action over the RH, but with an overhaul, I've been very happy.

Unfortunately neither the Redhawk Hunter nor the Blackhawk Hunter are around in my area. Both pistols are "used" and at a good price. If I found the Redhawk Hunter it would be a difficult thing to pass up.

Went and saw the SRH that is local to me. Neat gun. The one I looked at is not for me. Wrong price for what is included in the sale(nothing, actually, beyond the pistol) for me. I'll keep looking. Not 100% on the Blackhawk. However it f anyone has a link or video to proper shooting grip for a single action I would appreciate it.

Mine has the square trigger guard and I have been bitten before. Adding a pahmayr grip is a good compromise. I don't have a good picture of mine but it meets with the flat of the guard removing the problem. I do feel that it detracts somewhat from the looks of the gun but it makes shooting it a whole lot more fun.
