The current state of the world has caught up with me the last month.

I’ve wanted a Bushmaster Meatcrafter since I saw them introduced last year, I had looked at them a month or so ago and found some in stock. I received an unexpected Christmas bonus and decided to go for it, out of stock everywhere.

A week or so ago I decided I would get a smooth orange Case Trapper for pocket carry in the field. Found one at SMKW, got some Christmas dough today and went to make the order, yup out of stock…

Share your stories of steel you can’t find to help me feel better…

Looking at getting another custom knife in January, wanted it in 1050/1055 but the maker said his supplier hasn't had it in stock. I am looking to get the knife started on January 10, looks like it might have to be in 1095.

It's just nature's way of holding you off until the Magna-Cut version is available. :D

I, against all experience and wisdom, ordered a small truck a few days before Christmas. They told me I would need to wait four months for it, and if I wanted a factory spray in bed liner, it would be more like six. I went with the drop in bed liner and expect it will still be more like six months. Just-in-time delivery sounds good until one of the many links in the supply chain uncouples. Currently there are multiple challenges, but we will learn once again that good things come to those who wait.

The supply side of materials is crazy $ these days. Back in earlier times I bought 200' of 440-C for $100. I still have lots of it but it is now out of flavor among knife buyers. S30V and like I have a hard time opening the wallet to buy 3' of. The inflation of the past 8 months is :( Definitely waiting this out but I'm not so sure we'll see prices drop but probably remain where they are with availability coming back.

Maverick?

Amazon and Bass Pro seem to have both the standard and mini available by 15 Jan.

I ended up finding a standard on Knife Works. Had to pay shipping but after watching things I’ve wanted disappear I decided to go for it.
