Just bought a used SKS and made the circuit of the local gun stores for ammo.

7.62 X 39 is scarce, but Cabela's and a local shop Gateway Outfitters had just received shipments of .223.

"Shipments" as in "a truckload".

An entire aisle full at Gateway, a complete endcap at Cabela's.

Hopefully, this happens with 7.62 X 39 and other short calibers as well, but I have a feeling our ammo shortage fears are starting to be addressed by manufacturers.

I don't think we have much to worry about for very long. Demand is high. Any competent business will increase supply.

If the factories are all in overproduction mode for everything, eventually we'll get some very good prices indeed (barring any kind of legislation, of course).

I'm seeing some more 7.62 x 39, but the price is very high. I was in a store recently that had it for $7.49 a box (they wouldn't sell a case and limited buys to 10 boxes), they sold it for $4.49 a box before all the panic buying.

Walmart shelves almost bare of all ammo in our three stores. Been that way for about 3 weeks. Clerks have no idea if or when they will get more.

About two months ago, I predicted this would happen, and I also said once the shelves are full, the prices will drop. The manufacturers don't want to be sitting on entire warehouses full of inventory that isn't moving because the prices are too high!

That may even mean they have to rent storage space just to hold all the excess -- not a very good business practice!

I saw Wolf 150-grain 7.62x54R again at Cabela's. I picked up a box, even though it's more expensive than the PRVI Partisan I already have. I primarily want the brass to reload.

I'm anticipating a healthy tax return and work-related bonuses, I'm going to bulk up on ammo and 'AWB' related items. I think it's a long way from happening, but that doesn't make it a bad idea to get the stuff anyway. (A few more AR lowers, pmags, all hi-caps, collapsible stocks.) I think by this summer, there will be piles of the stuff on sale.

Well, speaking for myself, I know I've crossed quite a bit off my wish list since prior to the election, so there will reach a point where there's not anything else I REALLY want for a while (let's face it - I will always want something!) but if an AWB came down the pipe tomorrow, I'll be vehemently angry of course, but content with what I have - I think many gun owners will reach that point where they have plenty of guns / mags / ammo and supply will start to bulk back up.

I am afraid that there will be a negative effect in that with the spending spree gun owners have been on the last several months that all of the sudden there will be an abrupt halt and everyone will stop spending at the same time - hopefully that won't happen, but if it does then prices will most certainly drop.

Had to drop by WalMart this afternoon so, as usual, dropped by the sporting goods department to check out the ammo supply. Like most everywhere else lately, they've been out of most evrything for a couple of months, however, they had just received a shipment of .223 Rem., which is what I've been looking for. They had a good supply of Remington 55gn FMJ at either $9.97/20 or $26.97/50, but they also had four boxes of the Federal 55gn FMJ 100 round value packs for $39.97, of which I bought two. This was at the Everett, WA store, so if anyone else has a need for some .223 you may want to drop by.
