I've formed a loose-knit group of artists and craftsmen who work together to create very unique (what we call "Legacy") firearms packages. I started by forming a 501(c)(3) corporation for charitable purposes. We raffle off these packages that we create and donate the profits to a designated charity or conservation-minded organization.

My plea is for any kind of support you can offer: purchase of tickets, informing friends about the Guild, or any ideas on how to "get the word out". It is important to the continued existence of the Wolf River Artisans' Guild. We are striving hard to be a significant contributor to these various charitable and conservationist organizations and in the process we offer people the opportunity to win one of the most spectacular Legacy Firearms packages... ever! Without your support we may not be able to continue to create these superb packages nor support these wonderful organizations.

Our present offering will go to support the passage of the concealed carry legislation in the state of Wisconsin. The package consists of two handguns, a tactical knife, three holsters, a belt and a presentation case for all.

The first handgun is a Springfield Armory "Champion" - a stainless steel .45 semi-auto pistol that is a 1911-A1 with a 4" barrel. It went to our gunsmith for a complete tune-up and trigger brought to 4 lbs. pull. It then went to the engraver for a tasteful yet bodacious treatment. The grips are of sterling silver and fully engraved. The holster is Haugen's "Enforcer" in Python.

The second handgun is a Ruger SP101 - a stainless steel compact handful of .357 Magnum. It also went to the engraver's for that tasteful yet bodacious treatment. The grips are the standard recoil-absorbing rubber; however, the inserts in the grips are sterling silver and fully engraved. All internals are updated by our gunsmith. The holster is Haugen's "Defender" also in Python.

The tactical knife is a button-lock with safety release; AUS8 stainless that has been heat/cryo-treated; satin finished; 8" overall, 4-1/2" closed. The knife was built by Merlin Blades and went to the engraver for the finishing touches (you know... bodacious). Its holster is also be from Haugen and in Python.

All this is housed in a presentation case of exotic wood with polished brass fittings. The lid lifts to expose the handguns and knife in their own leather-lined depressions. The first drawer houses the leather goods, and the bottom drawer contains cleaning and polishing gear.

This is a single package and winner takes all. The drawing will be at the Wolf River facilities on Labor Day - Sept. 5, 2005. Tickets are a $20 donation each. Every bit of profit goes directly to the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association. All firearms regulations must be adhered to. You need not be present to win. Total package value is $5,500.

All information about the package and ordering can be found on the Wolf River Artisans' Guild website:

Good luck and support concealed carry in Wisconsin!

Our website pretty much explains what we do and how we do it. If you'll check it out you can see the first raffle that we did and how it fared (that was for the NWTF Wisconsin). You can also see our current offering with some more photos and descriptions of it all.

I'm certain you'll be astonished by the beauty and craftsmanship of these packages. We offer the ability to purchase tickets on-line by using the security of Authorize.net. Of course, there is a printable order form to allow people to send their contribution through the mail.

Thanks for any support you can offer.

Sincerely,

Here's a thumbs-up for this raffle.

The profits will go to the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association which, as many of you know, is an all-volunteer group that's been working to help get our CCW bill passed.

There's only a few weeks left in which to buy tickets, so please respond.

I sure hope sometime soon the genral public will be able to CCW in Wi.. I will be LE soon, so it wont matter much for me, but I don't see anything wrong with having CCW for the general public.

Long live the "pimp gun!" (IWANT IWANT IWANT)

OK, so I went to the site and printed the order form. The small print said I could order online, but I can't find the link. HELP?

Sumpnz - looks like this is one winner takes all in one beautiful package

From the first post:
This is a single package and winner takes all

My preference would be 3 different packages, but it's not my contest. More prizes being available means more chances to win and may bring in more buyers.

The raffle is for all of the items as a package: the Springfield, the Ruger, the two gun holsters, the knife, the knife sheath, and the wooden presentation box.

armedandsafe, I just checked the website and couldn't find a link for online payments, either. I'll get in touch with Tim to find out what the heck is going on, and will post here when I know.

GregGry, congratulations on your efforts to get into law enforcement. There are many retired officers here in WI who want to be able to defend themselves, and who are hoping that the AG and the legislature will get their respective acts together and codify training requirements for retired LEO's.

Fat chance. Retired cops will not get to carry here unless the "civilians" can as well.

So, please encourage the officers you know who are thinking about retirement to also think about where their best chances for being able to carry concealed lie: with AG Lautenberg, or with the gun owners who are in this fight to the finish.

What is the best way to directly support the Passing of the CCW? I would get in on this raffle, if I had money to work with right now. In about one month I will have 100$ or so to spare, I would like to do anything I can to help get it passed.

GregGry, this raffle aside, as well as all the other fund-raising things we're doing: the absolute best way to get CCW passed is to have every last gun owner possible positively hound their Democrat legislators.

We only need a handful of Democrat senators and assembly members to override a Doyle veto. All Republicans will vote to override, of course (although some squishy Repub's will want to water down the bill).

Doyle's approval ratings aren't good, but I've seen worse. He could still be re-elected if Congressman Green or Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker fumble. Walker's already had a few embarrassing moments, and the Journal Sentinel is unrelenting in their coverage. Doesn't surprise me: I figured Walker would be the strongest candidate, given his name recognition and the fact that he brought taxes under control without making too many people squeal.

Maybe that's why the Journal Sentinel has been going after him, hmm?

I've heard rumors that some legislative Democrats have gone to Doyle to ask him to not veto the concealed carry bill.

The problem that Democrats in the outlying areas face is that they need to be NRA-certified "A" grade to get re-elected. The NRA is more powerful in Wisconsin than just about any other state.

And many of these Democrats from the outlying areas are themselves full believers in gun rights.

Yes, Governor Doyle reached some sort of Devil's agreement with Representative Gary Sherman last year that persuaded Sherman to flip. And Doyle personally took Sherman all over the state for fund-raisers, because Sherman was in trouble after his flip.

Well, Doyle's going to be working on his own campaign, and won't have time to help Democrats who flip. Traitors will be on their own.

We have more NRA members per capita in Wisconsin than almost any other state.

We need to use that power now. Please ask all of your gun-owning friends to call their legislators and start putting the pressure on now. Especially Democrats. (If you live in Milwaukee, just think of calling Democrats as revenge for telemarketers).

We absolutely need to create a wedge between Doyle and the legislative Democrats running for re-election, at least on the CCW issue.

Impossible? No. But a tough job nonetheless. A veto override in the senate is almost guaranteed. We need people like Representative Barbara Gronemus and other assembly Democrats who've always been with gun owners to be able to convince their wavering colleagues that they're better off with us than with Doyle.

We also need more volunteers. Many more. You can sign on to be a volunteer by going to http://www.wisconsinconcealedcarry.com. Do as little or as much as you can.

If we can get to the assembly Democrats and get them to convince Doyle to find a face-saving way of avoiding a veto, we can win. If it gets to the veto point again, though, I suspect that all Democrats will circle their wagons around Doyle.
