Being that a .45acp is a subsonic round, why does it not suppress better than it does?

Big hole lets a lot of sound out the front, I'd guess. But I find my .45 Osprey is more than quiet enough to shoot without earpro.

Yep, big hole and lots of gas.

Yep.

They "use to" not suppress well. That is no longer fact due to the current state-of-the-art silencers available.

Yep x 2. Some of the designs released in the last few years are truly amazing. :)

Are you trying to say that my YHM Maxim is less than state of the art!!!!

Oh well, i've got a Marlin camp carbine that might make a good home for the Maxim. Christmas is coming, good of an excuse as any for a new can, and the 1911 really needs one with a booster anyway.

YHM must plan on users wetting their products with something. They list suppression @ -38 db dry. I didn't read on to find out how to wet the suppressor since I have no intentions of acquiring a suppressor.

I think you read the wrong specs jackal i know the YHM cobra 45 dry is like 22dBs and like 30ish wet

I would recommend anything water based or white lithium if you dont mind the smoke lol

Now if you put it on that marlin the longer bbl will help when using that can dry because of the expansion the gas does in the bbl before getting baffled in the suppressor but added an ablative will help even more
