Just wondering...do any of you have (or know anyone who has) a suppressed 8mm rifle? I haven't seen much of anything via Google along those lines.

you would have to use special subsonic amo and a very large integral silencer to be practical.

most suppressed rifles around .30 cal are built on mauser actions. but the 8mm bullet is a supersonic very loud round. it really wouldn't be best for what you'd be doing with it, to get a standard round to go subsonic, you'd have to bleed off alot of the gas, its not really a practical idea.

you'd be better off suppressing a mauser action rechambered in something big and slow

I don't know of anyone who has done it, but it is easy to do:

1. Get muzzle threaded for a standard thread pattern such as 5/8-24
2. Find an SOT to build a rifle suppressor with the rifle "hole" diameter.

Note that this would also work just fine for any .30-caliber rifles, as long as the thread pattern is the same.

I shoot my .308 suppressor on my .260 all the time, and I have shot my 338 suppressor on my 308.

The bullet would make things pretty loud, but the muzzle blast would be much reduced with a proper suppressor, making firing the thing not as bad - the bullet would still make things loud, though. Nowhere near as loud as firing without a suppressor, though! :)
