Suppressor Question

I have a few ideas for suppressor designs & have a "legal" question.
Obviously I have to fill out the mountain of paperwork & pay the extortion fee to get started but my question is this...
Once I meet the basic requirements, like the tax stamp & engraving the housing...
Could I experiment with a variety of internal components with the same housing, or must I go through the entire process multiple times, using identical housings, with a tax stamp for each one?

I’m pretty sure once you build a Form 1, only a gunsmith licensed for silencers can modify it.
