I've been handloading for 40+ years so always have been on the lookout for a deal. About 15 years ago a friends friends father died and left a bunch of guns and reloading equipment that I picked up real cheap. Among the lot was over 300 pounds of cast, unsized bullets in various calibers. The ones that I can use, 9mm, .45, .357 I've been using and I'll keep and use the rest. However there are quite a few .44 and .41 bullets which I don't have a firearm for. Should I sell them to someone for the price of lead, or are they worth selling as bullets? I'm retiring and moving 1,000 miles and don't really want to move the weight.

I imagine someone would like to buy them as is. Probably a little more than just lead price, but less than a known product, especially since they need to be sized and lubed.

What I've done in the past when confronted with this situation was buy guns to fit those bullets. Works for me.........

My last move to where I live now included just over 1,000 pounds of lead in 100 pound ingots. I'm still casting from some of those ingots, but they are mostly my reserve. I've been able to scrounge enough lead to keep up..

Hope this helps (but I doubt it).

Fred

Depending on how many, you can probably sell them on the "Reloading Components" portion of the For Sale section.

You can fit quite a few in a USPS Flat Rate box, provided you box them in smaller quantities, then put those boxes in the Flat Rate box. Otherwise, the P.O may lead a trail of small lead breadcrumbs from pick-up point to delivery point.

why not try to sell them, post them somewhere and see what happens, I have about 2000 bullets for 38/357 that i inherited and cant seem to part with. i have several 38's and 357's but i still have about 1500 round of loaded 38 ammo that my dad left me so i eater need to go shoot more or um go shoot more :). I was also just given a mec re loader and enough supplies to reload a bunch of shells over 100 pounds of number 7 shot and all the powder, hulls, and wads to reload them. I feel guilty not loading them up.

If you post them in the trade section here, they will get bought.

Your membership goes back a ten pack of years, and you have more than 5 posts.......

Bullets aren't lasting long, lately........

A medium flat rate box filled with 6 or 7 small flat rate boxes is a great way to ship bullets, you can get about 2k that way, and they will arrive intact.
