Handle a few of them in person and see what you like

and what you don't. I love Mausers, but my eyes are getting pretty old for the sights. I also love Enfields, have a nice Ishy that I am taking to the range next week with a lot of surplus NATO ammo.
I have NEVER paid over $400 for any surplus bolt rifle.

They are very interesting shooters, just get some knowledge and handle a few - they are very different.

OK, my bad! I work for a SWISS company, and love Swedish ladies! What can I say?

8/45 Fazakerley on the left, 46 BSA (restoration project) on the right in temporary modified #4mk1 wood.
Two of my favorites!

i know all the mosin nagant variants, most ideal marks, etc. however those are the most common thing to find in my area.

the only surplus rifles that appear in my area are 91/30 and variants, a few mitchells mausers now and then but even with the heavy polished metal and low serials and minty bores they do LOOK nice. and very old girls in 8x56r.
enfields appear one to two a year. typically a shot out burned up bubbad model that would need LOTS of work, or imported models that are more shotgun then rifle.

Order form 7
fill it out, send it in with $30
and then send your C&R out, plus you get dealer price at a bunch of places, OH and a number will let you order non C&R's at dealer price, but you still have to ship it to a FFL dealer and do the transfer.

THEN you only have to explain to your wife where all your money went :)

Check out centuryarms the .biz, and the prices are much better than refinished yugos
or southernohioguns
or JGsales.com
or AIM
the list is pretty long, even Budsgunshop has good deals on milsups

I've had my eye on a Yugo 24/47 for awhile now. Most (if not all) have been arsenal refinished I believe (well, of the ones the importers have), so I wouldn't worry too much about condition. Price isn't bad either: $150-180. Probably trade my M44 for one.

Considering what I paid for my 91/30, and how cheap ammo is, I'm having an absolute blast shooting it.

I got it for $50 with the purchase of another rifle.:D

go to samcoglobal.com they have good deals. I have bought two guns from them and both were immaculate. My k31 was very accurate and easy to operate but ammo is scarce. I would go for the yugo m24/47 or 6.5x55 oberndorf.

When I was eighteen and could buy beer legally in Louisiana in 1971 there was a liquor store with a couple of pool tables in my home town of Oakdale, Louisiana. It was called Crip's liquor store. Anyway this man had numerous ww1 and ww2 rifles lined up behind the bar for sale that had been traded in to him over the years for a bottle of booze. How I wish that in those early days I'd had an interest in surplus weapons. I probably could have picked up a couple, or maybe more, oldies but goodies.
