I see that SOG is offering used Taurus Model 82 revolvers for $149, are they worth the money? I've been wanting to get a project gun/truck gun for awhile, so I'm pretty excited that these are available :D

My buddy has the adjustable sight version (83?) and he loves it. $150 sounds fair to me.

Where are our manners?
Welcome to the forum!

Those may be police turn ins so have a accredited gunsmith inspect the gun before use. The police turn in as in Brazil police gun turn in.

I have 17 Tauri revolvers including the 82 and find them to be excellent revolvers.

The price is a good one.

I had a Taurus 82 (might have been an 80, fixed sight/4"-Kframe size) back in the day. That was a fine shooting gun. Shoot, $149.00 isn't much more than I paid for mine new back then. I shot a ton of reloaded wadcutters through that gun. The only thing wrong with it was it had ugly grips.

If I didn't already have a half dozen Smith & Wesson 38's I'd be tempted.

I checked the link. That's the gun I had. Good buy.

Thanks for the reply's! I'm gonna ask my dad to add the second one to the order. He'll have it for 3 more years legally. (I'm 15, but when I turn 18, I can do a inter-family transfer if I have the handgun safety permit here in California. Cool huh?) And just so you know, this IS legal in California, IF you convert it into a single action revolver when you "import" the firearm. But once it's in the state, you can do WHATEVER you want with it. So take out the single action hammer, and throw the double-action one in, and all's good!

The Taurus 82 is a good solid revolver. Very likely a police or security company trade-in. They usually go for between $200 to $250 in the trade-in world.

My regular haul 689 (bit different but not by much) gets hauled all the hell over the place with very little worry. Always shoots, damn accurate and relatively cheap to buy into. I'd pay $150 for a knock around gun in a spin. Can you get stainless?

Maybe it's just me, but their site doesn't let me look at their firearms. I already signed up with my C&R, and now I can't even see any options besides "Ammo, mags & more!". :(

Looked at a couple of them today at my LGS.
Both had the rubber grips and were big brutes that seemed okay in the mechanics. Lock up seemed okay and neither looked abused.
Quite a bit of finish wear- more than SOG describes, what a surprise- but for the 200 being asked they look to be good for the money and should sell rather quickly.

Big brutes?

I own a newer 82 and it's built on the similar K frame size.

It is subjective though. :)

If it's in good working order go for it.:)

Interesting. I already have a nice S&W M10, but would be cool to collect if I had a C&R. They have a Radom P64 there, picked one of those up last year and love it. For a pocket sized gun, that thing is ACCURATE. Had to add a wolf spring set to it, then spend 50 bucks on Marschal grips, got carried away. :D
