I'm currently looking into purchasing an SVT 40 in reasonable condition. I'm aware that many SVTs have corrosion issues because the 7.62x54mm ammo of the time is quite corrosive. One of the other things I'm looking for is scope rails, just curious if SVT rifles accept modern scope mounts, and if so which ones?

It's possible to find them with good barrels. As for scope rails, the SVT-40 uses its own special scope attachment, though it's likely possible to find modern adapters. By the way, just sent you a PM.

Lots of them are in relatively good condition. Very, very few will have pristine bores; Most are dark, with a bead-blasted texture in the grooves. They still shoot fine. That's how mine is. It's also for sale, BTW.

As far as modern scope adapters go, who makes them and are they compatible with modern telescopic sights. I might put a Tasco or Bushnell on top of it.

MachIVShooter, sent you a PM.

Thanks MachIVShooter. I'm gonna wait to mount the scope mounts on the rifle, as long as your receiver has the rails which can fit scope mounts.
