Rather strange - at least to me although perhaps it's a normal occurrence - thing I noticed after cleaning my SW1911PD today after coming back from the range.
One of the grip screws - upper right if it makes a difference - is missing. Must have happened this range session as I clean each time. Heck knows how it could have popped out in firing since my hand covers that part of the grip. Must have worked loose and then dropped out when I put it down on the bench.
That said are these standard grip screws? Especially given that this is the version with the factory fit Crimson Trace olive drab grips. Does anybody know of a place to buy secure screws if so? I don't want to cobble together a screw by matching the size of the others - I'm a bit pickier than that - so I will buy a set of four. I'm assuming I should NOT put loctite on them in case I or a smith needs to take the grips off but is there any brand or configuration likely to be tighter fitting - allen bolts perhaps? Did I miss some maintenance here? Never thought of a need to tighten grip screws but if it's a normal service need then let me know and I surely will. Thanks all!
