Forget gun shows! The local fish and game group has an annual swap meet, trading or selling anything, $10/table. I discovered it 3 years ago prepandemic and scored a Marlin Papoose with the original case for $230 and thought I had it good. Today was the first one they've had since the pandemic. First table, saw a Winchester 1906 for $350 and was reaching for my wallet before I moved 6 feet into the room. Yes, it is missing the original rear sight elevator and someone had varnished the rear stock, but otherwise just rusty outside with a good bore and a good magazine tube. I saw one in similar shape go for $800 in a local auction 2 weeks ago.

Then, 5 or 6 tables later, someone was selling a perfect condition Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16X40 30mm FFP scope with original box...wanted $175, I told them all I had in my pocket was $160, and walked away with it. Those babies are still on Walmart and Academy sports website at $399.

So let's not worry about whether there are deals at gun shows anymore....find your local F&G swap meet!

And for those who say pics or it never happened:

Man I wish I lived somewhere where I could go to yard sales and swap meets to buy guns! :(

Here it’s FFL only and a 10-day wait for gun purchases.

Congratulations on some nice finds there!

Stay safe.

Yes. The economic principle here is called "arbitrage" -- different prices in overlapping, but different markets. Guns can be found in estate sales, yard sales, swap meets, military vehicle shows, historical reenactments, etc. I wish I was younger, to pursue all these avenues. Now, I don't have the time or the energy.
