I was reading somewhere that ammonia-based cleaners aren't good to use in chrome-lined barrels. Seeing as Sweet's 7.62 is only 5% ammonia, is it safe to use in my AR's bore? I've primarily used it in my pistols (my 1911 and my Glock), but if it isn't okay to use on my AR, what would you guys recommend to get copper fouling out?

You'll be fine with Sweet's. Probably not a good idea to SOAK a bore with an ammonia solvent so use it and patch it out.

Sometimes I have to wonder where the recommendations against ammonia come from - ammonia gets copper out, with a lot of elbow work thrown in, like nothing else does. Maybe the barrel makers don't want you getting copper out so you'll buy more barrels when your accuracy goes south.

I have never had a chrome-lined bore copper foul bad enough to need it.

A bore brush & hoppes is all I ever use, or needed.

Jacket fouling doesn't stick to chrome nearly as bad as a non-lined barrel.
That's one of the reasons they use it.

I guess that makes sense. The only chromed barrel I've ever had is one in an Israeli take off Colt upper that I used to put together my clone of the rifle issued to me - I call it my 'Homesick gun'.

I never wanted chrome in a match barrel.

I was thinking when I bought my first Colt AR-15 in the early 1970's that I just got done using LSA & CLP to clean M-16's in the Army.

They are not copper solvents by any means.
And I don't think I ever saw an M-16 suffer from jacket fouling that couldn't be knocked out easily with a bore brush and one or the other cleaning products (LSA & CLP) they issued to us.
