Is Blue and Rust remover safe for Chrome lined bores?

I have what could posibly be some very very light rust forming at the muzzle of a chrome lined bore rifle. Is Blue and rest remover safe to use in a quick small dose on the area in question?

It may just be a defect in the barrel from when it was new but I want to be on the safe side. The rifle is about 20 years old and other rhn this very small area towards the muzzle the bore is "mirror brite".

I wouldn't do it, because I'd doubtless get some on the exterior of the gun and strip the bluing. I'd hit it with a bore brush and some solvent, and then oil the bore lightly.
