i recently saw a catalog that featured a swiss made .22 auto called Hammerli.. anyone know anything about these??

Yes, they are top notch (and priced accordingly) competition target guns.

The only reasonably priced Hammerli was the one produced under the Sig name, the Trailside. You could argue that its not really a Hammerli, but it could be had for $350 or so at one time and is an excellent gun. These are no longer manufactured.

Hammerli's are such a sweet pistol. Just about died when I saw the price tag though. Cheapest one I've ever seen was a very harshly used one for $1100.

$1100 is not bad. That's MSRP for a S&W model 41. The high end Hammerlis, Walthers, Pardinis, etc can easily cost double that.

Extremely well built guns. Should have bought a 208s when they were still making them. (I curse myself every day for not doing so.)

(The Trailside is based off of the Olympia/208.)

Hammerli firearms are designed for the Olympic shooting sports, hence the price.

I bought a Sig Trailside when they first came out about 9 or so?? years ago. I ordered the target version with the long barrel and the ajustable sights with the funky wood grips. I remember that it took about 4 to 5 months to get from Sig. I don't remember exactly how much it was but I know it was much more than $350.00. I think that it was more like $550.00 I still have it today. It only has about 200 rounds through it.

Hämmerli was a independent weapon manufacture also made barrels for swiss army but it was sold to Walther group of Germany few year ago.
Hämmerli are target pistols for competition shooting not for plinking so they are not cheap. Even here in Switzerland.
But you get a very accurate taget pistol.
