Hi Fellow THR'ers,
I saw a nice T-58 or m-58 9mm at a dealer's table today. I held off buying
as I had no sense of how this pistol came to be or what sort of reputation
it has.
I assume its in the Tokarev T-33 family. It had a "hammer and sickle" stamp
on the left side and I recall the words "Super 12" on the right side of the
slide. It has a crude import dictated add-on manual safety. The salesman
said the fingerrest grips were import dictated, too. Looks solid but I did
not examine it enough to ask good questions, I assumed I would have some reference book at home to help me sort out most of the facts before
bothering you folks.
Closest I've come is an image of the FEG Tokagypt 58 and the image shows
that name very clearly on the slide but the pistol did not. The image also
had a factory smooth safety, normal military grips and an extended finger
grip base on the mag while the pistol I saw did not. I'll look very closely
at the pistol next week and take the image with me but the more I know
before I get there the better.
Any info or advice will be appreciated.
