How would a 6.5 Grendill with 12 inch barrel
preform. I've been looking at alot of rounds
for a encore.

Well ! ,I got a used 223 rem. 15" inch barrel. Not really what I was waiting ,but I have 2, one gallon paint cans full of brass and some old school win.64 gr.PP got them in the 90s.

I have a .41 mag Contender barrel. Kicks pretty hard but has penetration and knockdown.
At 6,000' we are too high for pigs, but just south of here they've been playing hell near the lower Virgin River. Thinking about a FLIR scope.

I bet the homeless of Clark and Washington counties would love a pig BBQ.

Sounds like you reload and have 5.56 on hand so may be worth looking for the 6 or 7mm TCU's. Made from 5.56 IIRC.

Can get custom barrels in tons of flavors but they are a bit $$.

I like 35Rem, 45-70 for a bigger hole, or 30-30 for (normally) cheap/easy ammo.

Sumpter and Daughtry GA.

I like the 35 rem velocity from pistol close
to rifle!!

Take a walk on the wild side with a 7mm TCU, necked up .223 Remington. A bit slower than the 7-30 Waters but more pleasant in a pistol. Penetrates well with good sectional density in a 120 gr bullet. Built to knock over steel silhouettes at 200 yards, does a number on 120-150 lb animals under 100 yards.

I have a encore frame. Why Bain & Davis 357
I've got lots of 44 brass on hand
How big are your hogs? I shoot a 356 GNR in a T/C. It’s a 41 mag necked down to 357. A Gary Reeder creation. Now a 300Blk will do the trick to.
Looks like the old Bain&Davis there hard hitting round from 8-10 barrel!!

You could do a Bain & Davis. I’m not sure who will cut to that chamber anymore, but if you can find someone, then sure. I just happened upon the Reeder barrel and dies for a really good deal.

Want a new barrel I'm think a 357 max. Or 300 blk . Want it for deer and hog .

I understand you have an Encore so there are bunches of possibilities. If you wish to fiddle and suffer, by all means get a barrel chambered for some obscure cartridge. The 357 Maximum should fine. The ballistics would be similar to the 357 Herrett which I used to shoot in a Contender.

The 460 and 500 S&W Magnums shot well for me but if loaded to full power are hard on the hands and scopes. I had a 375 H&H Magnum pistol barrel for awhile that shot very well. The one I've finally settled on is the 444 Marlin which was easy to work up a load for and has plenty of power.

Second on the 7 TCU. I acquired one this summer, and although I haven't taken any game with it, it's becoming one of my favorites to shoot. The brass is easy to form from .223 (also used 5.56 NATO, but lose about 10% in forming). Nice bonus, you can still buy light 7mm bullets and it sips powder.

Between those two choices, I'd go with the 357 Max because I already have a lot of 357/38 Special bullets (both cast and jacketed) on hand that would be fun to experiment with. I've never even seen wild hogs (except in pictures) but I suspect good, 170gr, gas-checked SWCs driven between 1,600 and 1,700 fps from a Contender would work swell on them. And deer too - within reasonable ranges. Then you could switch to lighter, 125gr JHPs driven at close to 2,000fps from your Contender for rockchucks or groundhogs (depending on your location) in the spring and summer.
