I just finished sending off the money order for a T/C Contender that i saw on gunbroker.com
T/C Frame in 95% condition
10" 357 Mag barrel W/ Shotcap
10" 22 LR
10" 222 Rem W/ Leupold scope
Sectioned T/C pistol case with seperate pockets for barrels
Leather chest holster

Grand total $550 including shipping

My wife and i purchased the pistol mainly to be used for silhouette shooting. Hence the 357 mag and 22lr barrels. The 222 rem is just a added bonus but will come in handy for silhouette as well.

Curious about your opinions? Did i get ripped off? I don't think i did, in fact i think i got a pretty good deal

If it is all in good shape you did pretty darn good. You can sell it off and make $100 or more if you wanted to, to me that indicates a pretty nice deal.

I'd say you did WELL OK!! OK, only 10" barrels but ... last gun show bbl's were around $200 mark! Add a Leupold and maybe we could say $350 ... price that used and maybe still $200 .. add in the rest and a half decent frame ... yep .. sounds good.

Not perhaps my prime choice of barrels but ... would not have had a heamorrage if I'd seen a tag of perhaps nearer $700 in some places.

I hope you will enjoy .. I love mine with .223 barrel and also have added a .44mag barrel and scope .. more in the pipeline!! :p

Hey JBP .. you anything to do with holsters???

Sounds like a very good price. Leather chest holsters can be quite spendy all by themselves. Is that .357 barrel a 'hot shot' ? It may have a vent rib with bead. I forget. I've been thinking of IMSHA myself, I'm ordering an eight inch .357 barrel with a 1:14 twist for heavy bullets (180). My python has the same twist and it's awesome with 180's.

I can't wait!

This summer my wife, family and i will be transferring up to Kodiak, AK. We plan on joining the local gun club there and participating in silhouette shooting. I've always seen the contenders and heard about their versatility but somehow i never was very interested. Now looking into the contender and it's various barrels i can't wait to start training and honing my skills.

Thanks for the replies

I figured it up and depending on which grips you got, the gun shows around here, get about $800, if purchased seperately, for what you got. So IMO you got a very good deal. I personally would consider keeping the scope and mounts, trading off the .222 barrel, unless you reload, and buying a .223 barrel though. But then I'm very opinionated when it comes to my Thompsons. A the moment I've got a .223 super14 and a .357 rem. max. super14 both with Bushnel 2X6 scopes.
