Howdy all,

Looking at the tang on my Seneca, I notice there's a small tapped hole between the tang screws. I assume this is for mounting a peep target sight using the front or rear tang screw as its second mounting point. Can anyone point me to a source that would have a sight to fit it, and preferably a replacement front sight also. I'd like a shrouded front sight with inserts if possible. My eyes ain't what they used to be and I focus better with a peep sight. The gun is impressively accurate and I think target sights might help me wring out a little more of its potential.

Thanky kindly

you right...

that is for a tang sight,t/c sells them they are costly
but at time,s e-bay has them, williams sight company
used to sell them as well..but they are floating around,,

I checked the Thompson website and didn't see them listed. I still have no idea what front sight to use even if I find a rear.

I got one for my Hawken a lot of years ago, I just don't use it much. Originally there was a globe front sight to go with it but I always used the original front.

You might have to try to talk to someone at TC to get more info. Not that they would have the item, but it's always worth a try. I visited the TC Custom Shop website in Rochester, New Hampshire named:

http://www.foxridgeoutfitters.com/

I entered "sights" into the search box and some tang and peep sights came up, but were for larger octagon barreled TC guns. Maybe those could fit? And there are some experienced staff there for you to ask about the spec's of the holes that are in your rifle, and they may have not only more parts in stock but also experienced installers. (They do TC factory authorized custom work!)

The only other companies that I can think of are the Lyman or the Williams gunsight companies. They may have something that might fit on both ends of the barrel. I've read that Lyman has different size discs to fit into a rear TC peep sight for use under various light conditions (target & hunting).
A shooting shop specializing in target rifle shooting may also be able to help you out with finding & fitting the type of sights that you are looking for.
Lots of folks buy, sell or install them. It's mostly about what kind will fit, how much you're willing to spend and that sort of thing.
If I come across more specific info. or leads, "I'll be Baaaack!" :D

I think I'm going to call TC first and ask if they have them, and get information about what front sight height to use, etc. I'm having no trouble finding front globe sights, and I've found a few rears that say they fit TC but they don't specify which models. Maybe TC uses the same curve on all their tangs?

If TC doesn't have the answers I need, I'll give Fox Ridge a call.

I think I'm also going to email DGW and ask about their sights. They have a set that interests me if it fits. They seem knowledgeable.

Thanks for all your input on this. This is a new direction for me and I'm pretty clueless about it all. :)
