Hah!! what a thread. I can't believe I read the whole thing in one session. I don't know that I can add anything other than to throw out my 2 cents.
A couple of observations. The war on drugs has done nothing to curb drug use and in fact may have contributed to the level of drug use as a whole.
Those that have said the Constitution was put in place to restrict the Goverment are correct. I doubt that the founding fathers of our country saw the goverment as the tool by which to control the people's moral habits or lack thereof. They clearly saw that when we as a people failed to govern ourselves in a responsible manner that no law/s could stop the demise of the nation.
I don't find it inconsistent to find the use of drugs and alcholol (one in the same to me) stupid, irresponsible and self defeating yet believe in their legalization. I am a firm believer in seat belts and wore mine long before seat belt laws were in vouge yet I believe seat belt laws are an infringment of our basic rights.
For the record: I have never used any illegal drug and all the alcohol that I have consumed in almost 38 years wouldn't fill a beer can half way up.
If you choose to indulge in any type of drug please don't mix them with the use of firearms or driving.
