This is a truely advanced class, Fighting pistol is a great start, but wow this class is even more needed than the first class, this class has drills and techniques that you need and must have to survive a lethal encounter.

Today started off in the classroom, but it was short and sweet. Indroductions by the students and instructers were made, the standard saftey and incase of emergency plans were discussed and understood by all.

On to the range where we spent the rest of the day, and a great day that it was. If you hate shooting strong hand and weak hand only, then you are gonna hate this course!:) No body really likes to do it, but it is a must, and i am glad that i was in the enviornment where i was forced to do it, even though i really don't want too. Everything you could need too with the strong hand or weak hand only was covered. drawing, shooting, reloading ( both speed and emergency reloads), clearing type 1(yes there was more inert rounds),2, and 3 malfunctions, weak hand and strong hand only. type three one handed was tough and i am glad that it was gone over, especially the weak hand only. All the postions were gone over again, and more added today, fetal postion etc, and the majority of them were done both weak hand and strong hand only. The tueller drill was covered, from the holster as well as the covert ready postion. We dimissed the tales of your finger having to be right "here" or this way or that to make you shoot accuartly. we got accurate hits on traget using unconventional means to pull the trigger, ie using an ink pen, your finger at the tip, at the first bend, at the 2nd pad, using your whole finger, as well as shooting the gun upside down. no matter what it goes back to basics, sight alignment, sight picture and a proper trigger press. That is all you need to achive hits no matter what. We also shot two guns at once, which was interesting, and something i hadn't done in the past and didn't ever plan on doing, but suprisingly i was able to get every round from each gun into the heart box of the target (my xd and a glock 23), and i was in a pretty rapid pace. We also partaked in the "disorientation" drill, enough of that and there is so much much more to this class even just the first day. But if you want to know more you just need to take the class, that is all there is too it.

Again today i ran the xd service model again, no gun, ammo, or magazine issues. It is hard to say how many rounds we went through. I did use my xdsc bug today but that was only when my service model ran dry on ammo and i would transition to it just to go through the motions, and start to integrate the bug into my shooting.

There were no issues on the range with guns going down or the like, everything ran good and stayed in the fight all day.

Tommorow is the last day and though i am looking to get the next day underway i am not looking for the training to be over though. i would love to stay for alumni weekend, but that is out of the question.

i highly reccomend this course even more so than fighting pistol but since fighting pistol is a prereq for this course and for good reason, you should take both of these courses and you should take them back to back.

I'm glad you are finally getting to train with Tactical Response.

This class will change your perspective on many issues related to gunfighting.

Are you catching a ton of crap for you XD?...They seem like "Glock or nothing" guys...
no slack for the xd, the 2 that i brought run and i know that before i ever went to the course. None of the instructers ever pushed one gun or another on me, and the other students.

I'm sorry, where is this taking place? Sounds interesting.
this particular class is in Camden Tenn

Thank you for posting this. I always appreciate reviews of training courses, as it shows not only what sort of drills are involved but also how the equipment is running and whether the instructors or student(s) have an attitude problem getting in the way of things.

Anybody having malfunctions regularly in the course? What are they shooting?

there was a glcok that was having trouble the first day. after day one i showed her how to clean and more importantly lube the glock and there were no issues the rest of the week. as far as i know there were no issues with any other glocks, i had one bad mag out of 10. Other than that everything ran like a champ.
