Anyone know of a manufacturer of a padded take down rifle case for a Browning .22 auto? This case should have one sleeve for the barrel and one for the stock. I'm looking for one that is similar to the Marlin Papoose case.

Thanks!

Kev

another source is acecase.com a missouri holster and case company.they have one case the td22 thats displayed on their site with a broken down browning 22 auto sitting on it. demensions 7"x22.5" cost $25.20 +shipping and handleing.. hope this helps.

Off topic, but...

I had no idea Browning was still making BAR-22 clones. I was looking at one last week but it sold before I could swing it, and knowing that I can still get the wee rifle that I was so smitten with in the store takes a little sting out of it.

I know what I'm asking for for christmas. :D

Browning doesn't produce the BAR-22 anymore.
The BAR-22 is an offshoot of the BAR centerfire hunting rifle.
Big, huge thing for a .22 rifle.

Browning IS still producing the slender, little, takedown Auto-22.
The one that loads through the buttstock, ejects cartridge cases out the bottom and down your shirt sleeve,,,,,,

Oddly, the takedown auto-22 appears identical to the thing I saw which was marked as a BAR-22 at the shop. Which may mean I missed out on something hugely collectible. :uhoh:

I found a PDF scan of the manual collaborating the theory that it wasn't a unique mis-labeled mistake, though.

Well, here is a guy advertising a "BAR 22" for sale. The photo says Auto 22, but the text of the ad says BAR-22.

I am certain this is NOT a BAR-22, since I have the EXACT same rifle in my gun safe. It was my father's and I have been shooting the thing since I was 8 or so.

I bought a Browing Auto-22 Grade IV last year and it's the same as this one except for the wheel sight is no longer used, and they are now made in Japan.

I can assure you that there is no stamping on the rifle that says "BAR" anything.

From Brownings web site:

The BAR 22 rifle was introduced in 1977 and discontinued in 1985. It was offered in a Grade I and II.

So if this one in the photo, and the one in my safe, were made in the 50's then it's not hardly a BAR 22 is it......
