Anyone have any experience with bolt action rifles that are modified to be taken down into two pieces?

I know that Winchester sells a takedown version of their 1894, and I've seen some gunsmiths will do conversions, but I don't see much talk about it online.

I would think a Ruger Gunsite Scout modified to be taken down in half for storage would be a really nice gun to have.

First thing that came to mind is a modular rifle design TC came out with recently called the Dimension. Not exactly the same take down as Ruger, but could be done in a similar fashion.

The big potential issue is that threads are wear areas and taking down and re-assembling very many times tends to loosen things up. If there's a very well thought-out compensation for that in these designs, it certainly could be cool.
