Bowling For Columbine was subject of discussion this Sunday Morning. The gentleman host was against Moore, gun control, and the sheeple. The lady host, opinion was that "the evil automatic guns were the problem. Main interest of discussion was protecting kids.
I listened first to the gentleman explain the definition of automatic and semi-automatic firing system. Lady said we need more gun-control to protect the kids, the documentary was excellent, baa baa sheeple rant.
The gentleman basically explained we 1) don't need any gun control, 2) the existing laws that we have are not being enforced, and 3) if current laws not being enforced what good are more laws.
Four callers in a row were RKBA, and made good points.
The lady did the misguided sheeple ,liberal," for children bit"
My coffee became bitter, I fired up a smoke and dialed.
When my call was answered I was asked if I'd seen the "movie".
I replied, No, and I refuse to.
Being as 5 is my lucky #, I was the next person.
I stated I refused to give my money to support a Left wing misguided, statistical incorrect effort to mislead the public. The gentleman host agreed. The lady said "what about the guns, and kids and, and..." I replied, In all due respect It is the individual NOT the firearm. IIRC planes were used on 9/11, not firearms-however had pilots and crew been armed perhaps this tragic event could have been avoided".
I continued with, IMO I feel some of societies problems are due to the breakdown of the family unit, single parent families and extended families. I feel the priorities of families have drifted because of keeping up with the Jones', is more important than teaching kids personal responsibiity. Fortunatley , responsibilites of parents have changed, because there are a LOT of extended and single parent families raising kids with no problems. The reason IMO is teaching of self reliance and less dependance on the gov't. The bottom line, IMO is kids want to be a part of, have a sense of belonging to. When one teaches the child right from wrong, personal responsibility, discipline and gives love and attention to a child, a child is less likely to go out in the streets and become a thug to get attention. Again the gentleman agreed and supported, naturally the lady didn't. She went on about locking up guns.
I continued with " the reality is when I was growing up kids were taught personal responsibility, self reliance, and to think. Somewhere our society became brainwashed the Gov't was going to take care of you and instead of being self reliant, became dependent on the Gov't".
I asked if she has a stove in her house, she replied yes. I asked if she kept her kitchen locked, or had a padlock on the stove. She said . that's stupid, why? Well you know a kid could burn themself if stove is left ready to use and unattended. She said thats silly everybody knows not to do that , they were taught as kids how to safely handle the stove as kids. I replied, "did you just hear what you stated?" YOU just said your parents taught you how to safely use the stove, and your parents did not worry about you being left alone with, using, or being without supervision.
I continued with it is the intent of the individual, not the instrument used to inflict pain, injury, or death. One may use harsh words , a pc of wood, a hammer , ice pick, and yes even a firearm.
I asked if she had matches, and if those were locked up, if she thought if banning all matches would stop arson.
At this point she didn' t respond, the gentleman just kept agreeing.
I also stated Innocent's Betrayed is a truth filled Documentary, and she should research this upcoming work.
I hung up to listen and was transferred back to the operator.
I suggested she needed a fresh perpective of truth and not brainwashing. I gave the operator the web Addy of TFL and asked she be given this and to conduct a search. References could be proven to be substaintiated.
The next caller was a lady, with a 4 and 6 year old, single mom with a CCW. She echoed my sentiment and spoke of the NRA Eddy Eagle program. This single mom suggested the lady host attend a firearms class, and view this tape of Gun Safety.
This caller continued by agreeing with what I stated, and adding to it. She stated her kids know that when they visit her brother, the kids know to leave the Uncle's guns alone. If the kids were to happen upon a firearm they were to "Stop, don't touch, leave, and tell and adult". She continued with if we keep giving up freedoms, personal responsiblity, thinking for ourselves, well one day whilst shackled we utter "What happened?" . " You see" , she continued, " its about control, brainwash the people and make them dependent on the gov't, so they lose the ability to think for themselves. These Moore, and hollywood types get in a position of status, are used , maybe drafted by the liberal left wing , to steer one's thinking. What the heck do these actors, and media persons know about politics, gov't, how to run a war, should we have a war...etc. Heck all they care about is money ,ego , and when they are USED up by the means of the gov't , they'll be tossed aside. Funny she said , many of the anti gun actors, sure don't mind using one in a movie to make $,but they rant, rave and support a poorly excuted documentary.
