Yet another “prices are high” thread.
WE KNOW
Many of us older hands stay stocked up because this is the THIRD ammo panic weve had in the last 20 years, the worst so far, and wont be the last.Problem is, for us new firearm owners, there isn't much choice. And, especially if one is motivated to become proficient, what other option is there?
I often wonder what the idea is to have hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammo sitting in a basement or garage. Lots of YouTube say they have tons of ammo, and aren't practicing because they don't want to use what they have. As a new shooter, I often question the purpose. Yes, if TSHF, you have plenty of ammo to protect yourself with, but if you haven't shot your firearm in a year, don't you lose some of that proficiency? And how much ammo can you possibly use before you are overwhelmed anyway?
The Two Guys Sarasota show is still excellent, though a little small- its held at Robarts Arena. Lots of private sellers, mom and pop tables, milsurps, etc.The Tampa shows have really gone downhill, and not just as of late. Back in the day, there were some great shows in Tampa at the old national guard armory in West Tampa. I have high hopes for the show I am going to in Ft Walton Beach this weekend coming up, but I am prepared to be disappointed again.
IF "something" were to happen, I would be one of the main suppliers of my immediate and extended family. Live in a rural area and almost everyone is family or friends. We would be a local militia in the sense that the framers intended. I do not consider it hoarding, if the need arises I will be doing a lot of sharing.Problem is, in order to have a "well regulated militia", you need as many people as possible to participate. With the "better to die" ideology, the "next generation" may not be able to use the ammo people are hoarding. With this many new gun owners out there, especially if (emphasis on if) they are dedicated to proficiency, it is imperative that we make sure our "well regulated militia" has what they need. One person/family can only use so much ammunition at a time in case of crisis. They would be quickly overcome. Just my two cents.

I'm not sure exactly what you are implying. 1. I don't have enough ammo to supply the whole gun owning community. 2. It's not my responsibility to supply everyone. 3. It sounds very much like a socialist concept of take from the people who have, and redistribute to the people who don't.If a platoon of soldiers shows up at your doorstep, I'm sure your immediate and extended family will be able to hold them off. And you will absolutely be able to use every last cartridge while protecting yourself, no doubt. Meanwhile, those of us that aren't able to help, because you have all the ammo, will fall as well. I'm sure that's exactly how our framers intended the situation to play out.
It will all settle down eventually.
If it got to that point, there would be darn few "soldiers" left anywhere, and the ones who did still have a uniform to wear would have bigger problems protecting whatever leader they are following. If a platoon of soldiers shows up at your doorstep, I'm sure your immediate and extended family will be able to hold them off.
