I brought my Polish Tantal (newly made) out to the desert yesterday to check for functionality. It was raining so we didnt take pictures or put up targets but I'd imagine I would have looked silly in my GI poncho with the hood up holding an AK.

for those who haven't seen it..

anyhow

the long and short of it is, it worked great. I hadn't had much of a chance to lube it up before firing (ran out of rem oil) but it still worked great.

I had a single stoppage which I think was mag related. A tap on the operating handle fixed it and the rest of the rounds went through fine. I shot a total of 30 rounds because I only had 1 full magazine of silverbear 5.45 x 39mm with me.

The recoil was amazingly light. After the first couple shots I was compelled to check the magazine to see if I was shooting .22LR. the heavy AK action/receiver doesnt make as much for a light handy gun as an AR but it soaks up the recoil of the smaller cartridge which makes it very fun to shoot. I would say the rifle produced slightly less recoil than my Stag AR firing 55 gr 5.56 NATO ammo.

I mostly just shot puddles so I dont know quite how accurate it was. I do know that the wire stock is NOT very conducive for forming a cheek weld for precision work.
