With some practice 50-75yrds hurricane zombie distance should be decent.

Laser mounted today....project is finished for the most part.

Had to relocate the rail further back on the foregrip in order to operate with my thumb. Just didn't want to mess with the chord and pressure switch on the vertical grip.

Remember, gentlemen, my eyesight is such that I actually need the red dot and laser.

Hope this helps someone contemplating an SKS mod.

Why??? I know it looks cool and everything but there is something about the original config with these C&R's that look beautiful...you know the kind of beuty only a mother could love. Each to his or her own I guess...

"I thought the tapco stock comes with a rail on the gas tube, why go with a metal handguard?"

I didn't want to mount anything on the TAPCO upper rail since it was too far forward weight-wise and a little too high.

Also, the handguard doesn't often provide a super stable platform for optics.

For sure, it's not as stable as the Scout Scope mount.

OK, thanks for the info, I might need to rethink a project I had in mind. BTW, really dig the rifle setup.

Thanks...this is the fourth or fifth I've done, so I'm gradually refining the process.

That Scout Scope mount is the best idea anyone's had yet for optics.

Doc-

Did you have any reliability issues with the Tapco set up? I've got a Norinco that I've put the Tapco stock on and try to use the Tapco mags. I can't get through one mag without several malfunctions. Everything from stovepipes to FTF. I know with the wooden stock folks say to shave some of the wood out, does anything like that need to be done with the Tapco stock?

Thanks!

Great looking set up btw. What kind of VFG is that?
