I'm considering the possiblity of building a nice REM 700 based Target/Tactical rifle for myself. Basically, I plan to buy a gun and re-stock and maybe re-barrell it OR even buy an action and go from there.

I'm especially interested in drop in or modular user installable stocks (and triggers).

So, my question is about what REM 700 Target/Tactical stocks are out there?

Examples of what I have in mind include...

http://www.knoxx.com/products/AxiomVS.php
http://www.ketmer.com/ai/aics/index.htm
(also available with folding stock, hmmm)

Besides the last one (the mesa tactical xcaliber) I have heard of and seen pictures of a stock for the REM 700 that made it look somewhat like an AR. No, I am not confusing it with the Tubbs rifle. IIRC, it even had an AR style free float type hadguard. This was years ago and it was very lttle known then. It was originally intended more for target shooters than tactical shooters, and perhaps bechrest in particular, IIRC.

What else is out there?

BTW, this is going to be a privately owned civillian weapon so noboy but me is going to shoot it and if they do I don't care if the LOP and cheek piece fit them or not, so I actually do not really need adjustable length of pull or cheek piece heigth per se, however, all the chassis style systems seem to include them anyways.

This is one of the MAK tubeguns (from www.tubegun.net) which is built off of a Rem 700 short action reciever... all tricked out... Is this what you are looking for?
