Taurus 22 series or Beretta Bobcat (both in .22LR) which is the better gun? Also, please explain why you think it's better.

From my experience the Beretta is much better quality, of course, with a higher price, but every small Beretta I've seen would work...can't say the same for the small Taurus pistols...:uhoh:

I have nothing against Taurus, as a matter of fact, I'd rather operate a Taurus PT92 than a Beretta 92F..:what:

I have no experience with the Taurus, but I have had a Beretta Bobcat for 20 years. It works and is reasonably accurate.

That said, this type of gun is a very specialized piece in my opinion. It is not powerful or reliable enough for a defensive weapon. It is not large or accurate enough to really learn marksmanship fundamentals. It is okay for plinking, but it's niche is as a light, small companion gun if you're hiking, running, biking, or fishing. Your mileage may vary.

A friend of mine bought a new Taurus PT22 (Bobcat clone) recently, and we ran it through at the range. As accurate as you can expect the tiny thing to be, and only two problems: One failure to eject (the case had a burr, bit still something that could have been extracted by my Ruger), and one failure to fire (ammo problem).

Do these things even have an extractor? My glance at it didn't notice one. Does the bolt face just guide a blowback?

Ran as well if not as smoothly as my Ruger Mk3, but this of course does not speak for every PT22.

Nice trigger on this one. Fun little thing. Now if I could have found a spot that didn't have my thumb abused by the safety or rubbed by the slide...

Don't rack the slide on this--it's just a waist of time. Put in a full magazine and tip the barrel up to put a live round in the chamber, then fire.

That said, if the price isn't that much different, go Beretta--better reputation.
