I was at a local shop yesterday and they actually had one of these in stock. Looked at and was actually impressed (this is not a normal reaction from me when looking at anything Taurus).

The grip may look kinda screwy, but it is very comfortable. A natural angle, solid grip and the "ribber" stuff on the front really locks your hand in place. Bore axis wasn't too high, the slide was rounded nicely in contrast to Glock's blocky shape (I like and own Glocks, just an observation). The sights were smooth and provided a nice clean sight picture.

I was able to break it down and everything looked smooth and well machined inside, went back together smoothly.

My only nitpick is the arrangement of the control levers. The safety is as it should be (down to fire, up to safe), but I don't really see the need for it on this weapon. The slide release ended up right under my right thumb when a firing grip was obtained and I can easily see myself preventing slide lock on an empty mag by bumping it. The disassembly lever is right next the slide release and I can easily see someone trying to use the wrong lever to release the slide in a high stress situation.

The trigger was much improved over the original Millenium series, but the travel was quite long, similar to a Springfield XD, but not quite as smooth.

While I certainly don't see Taurus seriously competing with Glock, Sig, Beretta, HK, et. al, for the LE market, if these end up being more reliable/durable than their millenium series, they would probably serve well in a range gun or lower cost self-defense role.

The price was marked at $509, but this gun shop is known for rediculous prices on everything (KT SU16 was marked at $638), so I would suspect they will price out around $400.
