Taurus 380acp revolver

I was listening to a podcast of gun talk http://guntalk.libsyn.com/guntalk_2010_05_30_part_c
they had on Bob Morrison from Taurus, at the end he talked about a revolver they are comming out in the 380acp has any one herd of this?
I thinking I want to find and try one.

The new .380 revolver is a five-shot revolver in a frame smaller than the Taurus model 85. The new .380 revolver will use ’stellar clips’, which like moon clips, allow the shooter to reload the revolver very quickly. The clips also allow the use of rimless cartridges such as the .380 ACP

I've been interested in a .380 Auto revolver for a while now, especially if they reduced the length of the frame to take advantage of the short (.984") max COL. Sounds likes someone was actually listening!

If they reduce the length of the typical .38spl cylinder to make a more compact revolver, this is a great idea... although I do wonder why they chose .380 and not 9mm. If they keep the length of the cylinder the same as a .38spl, then I think this design is about as smart as slamming your manhood in a car door.

I wonder... why is it the budget firearms makers who innovate? Why are Taurus and Kel-Tec willing to innovate, but S&W and Glock are not? It's weird.

I believe that the Tauruses & Kel-Tecs and assorted other manufacturers benefit more from experimentation. It gets people that normally wouldn't look at their products to check them out. Also, I believe that the larger, more well-known manufacturers want to check out consumer response before they go sinking money in a venture.

As far as the gun goes, a small 9mm or 380ACP revolver would be great. They are viable defense cartridges, yet they are extremely small compared to a 38 Special. If the revolver was sized for those rounds, it could be very small. Perfect for pocket carry. It would make a S&W 642 look big.

they do have a 9mm revolver all ready, the 905. the 380 puzzles me though unless thy are going to shorten the frame and cylinder.

The reason they went with 380acp instead of 9mm is probably because the 9mm generates close to the same pressure as the 357mag, and has traditionally only been offered in all steel models like the 357mag. For them to use a smaller frame it would almost have to be 380acp or 32h&r mag and the acp seems to be more popular right now.
If they offer this with it being sized around the cartidge, this could be a real CC hit and perfect for pocket carry.
