Well I let one of these babies get away from me a few years ago and regretted it ever since. I have been looking for one for quite a few years and have had no luck. I was helping a buddy at the last gunshow in Houston and while manning
the booth struck up a conversation with an older gentlemen in the next booth. I found out that he really likes the 41 magnum caliber as much as I do. While discussing the different guns available that shoot this caliber I made mention of the Taurus 415 and how I would like to find another. He mentioned he had one. I asked if it was for sale and he said yes. So after some negotiation on the price it showed up at my door.
Today I finally got a chance to take it to the range and remembered just how much I really missed the gun. I took 4 different loads to try in it but unfortunately did not have any of my pet reloads that shot so accurately in my last one.
Winchester 240gr Platinum Tips were the largest and averaged three inch groups at 15yards, Federal and Remington 215gr. shot 2.75" and 2.5" respectively....but the best of the bunch was the Hornady 210gr XTP's. They averaged 2.25". Since this gun was bought primarly as a carry weapon I only tried factory hollow point loads and I am not disappointed. I am pretty lucky since the gun fits the same holster as my 3" GP-100 so carrying it IWB is very comfortable. A little dehorning of the sharp edges and it will be good to go. Christmas came early this year.

Nice find! To be truthful, I had never knew Taurus made a snub-nose .41 mag. Pretty cool, and probably a hand full too, good thing it's got a ported barrel. Years ago I had a S&W model 57 (I think) with a 4" barrel and couldn't hit the side of a barn if'in I were inside it (exagerate intended) but you get the idea. I ended up selling it. Enjoy your new "old find" LM

Its a great little hand cannon and with a bit of fluff and buff to knock off all the sharp edges, will be a great little carry weapon, when the urge strikes me to do so.
The barrel porting and gripper grips really tame the beast, even with the hot loads. Once I get some more of my pet loads built, I will really get a chance to have some fun shooting it. What I spent in factory loads yesterday I could have loaded 400 rounds of my pet loads. I needed to know which the little gun liked best for carry.

I did the same thing with a 45 ACP Taurus Tracker that I wished I had never sold.
I now never sell my guns; only add to the pile. People that have never handled the
5 shot big bores that Taurus makes don't realize the difference in size to a 6-shot N frame.
I like the tracker because it was similar in length but thinner than my 4" model 29.

Enjoy your new wheelie!

I see Taurus still lists a 415 in the catalog. I found a 445 TI a few years back and last year I let one in .45 colt get away.:banghead:
Congrats! Enjoy.

ALmost picked one of those up once. Liked the concept. Still do. The only magnum handgun caliber I don't run. Might have to rethink and relook for that'n....I can see some serious potential for that kind of hand cannon.
