OK, I finally got the chance to go to the range and try out my new Taurus 605. I put approximately 100 rounds of .38 WWB through it, and approximately 30 Remington JSP 125 grain .357 through it.
With both the .38 and the .357 it was very accurate out to about 40 ft. Any farther than that and I had a hard time keeping any good group. I believe a lot has to do with the sights. My local range is fairly dark (indoor range) and I am using Shoot-N-See targets, which are black. At 40 ft I had a hard time finding the front sight with the dark target as a background.
I shot SA, DA, and rapid fire. I had no mechanical issues at all. The barrel got rather hot, and there is quite a bit of powder residue on the top of the barrel. It functioned flawlessly and was very accurate. I was shooting one inch left with the .38, but that may have been my shooting more than the gun.
The .38 ammo was a pleasure to shoot. The .357 definately had more of a kick to it, but nothing that isn't manageable. In fact, by the end of the session, I was also shooting .357 rapid fire. The web of my shooting hand is a little sore, but not terribly so.
The trigger was a very pleasant surprise. In single action you literally only have to touch it and it'll fire. In double action, the trigger is very smooth and has a good feel to it. It's almost like a two-stage trigger in that just before it fires, there is a small "valley" that let's you know you are about to fire. I had no problem at all shooting accurately in DA.
So, to sum this up, I am very happy with this little 2 inch snub nose. It is accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I bought after-market wood grips for it, so this was not with the stock rubber grips.
