Hello folks,

I've got a revolver question that I hope someone can help me with. My sister in law just picked up a Taurus 605 for concealed carry. She is not fond of the factory grips and would like something a little smaller.

Searching of the usual websites (Natchez, midway, cheaper than dirt) very few grips are listed for the Taurus 605 specifically, but many are listed for the various S&W frames.

I am aware that some taurus revolvers are near identical to some S&W revolvers so I would like to know what S&W frame size is the equivalent to the taurus 605? I just want to make sure she orders grips that will fit her gun.

I believe it is the J frame, I just would like to confirm it before I give bad advice to my sister in law (ecpecially now that she is armed :D ).

Also any suggestions as to a brand of grip that fits smaller hands well would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have one that I recently picked up. Yes, its pretty much J-frame size, but I have been told that the grips will not interchange. There is something on the frame that just does not work...real bummer.

I believe Ajax makes some grips. I actually just picked up a set of factory Taurus Hogue type rubber grips and I really like them.

They fit, there's a transverse pin on one or the other's grip frame that needs a different hole relieved to fit. I used a drill bit in my fingers, didn't even have to chuck it up.

You can also go to Taurus' website they have a decent selection.

There are a number of aftermarket grips made for the 'Taurus 85', and that is what you want to look at. Grips made for this fit the other small-frame Taurus revolvers, such as the 650, 651, 605, etc.
