i took my 669 out shooting the other day. i can barely keep them in the black.
i shot supported and it was fine, so i know its me. is there any way to make the sights more visable, short of putting a red dot on it

On those of my guns where I want the sights permantly coloured I use Bright Sights sight paint.

For those that I prefer black but occasionally need more contrast at the range I carry some Testor's Paint Markers in my range box. It's just the old Testors model enamel paint in an easy to use magic marker style applicator.
You can get them at any hobby or crafts shop.
