I'm looking at picking up a used Taurus 82, blued, 2in snub this weekend for $200. I don't know the history of this gun. What I want to know is, does anybody know when these guns were first produced?

I know this one does not have the ridges in the cylinder flutes, which tells me is a later "Taurus" Taurus, not a early "S&W" Taurus.

Condition looks great. Has rubber grips not original I assume. But I haven't seen any 2in versions of this model before. $200 is still an attractive price though.

Edit: this gun doesn't have the full length barrel shroud for the ejector. Other than the front sight ramp, this gun looks just like a S&W model 10

I asked him to check the SN on their website. He said it came up with no match. Might not have done it right. But either way, he did clarify its a transfer bar so its definitely post 82. I'm buying it this week for sure now.

Took me a little while to get these taken. But here is my 2in Model 82. I recently bought some old factory square butt grips for it. So far I've put about 100rds through it. Fairly accurate. No problems with extraction. And all rounds shot were mixed brass/handloads. Over all I like it. And the fact you don't see a 2in Model 82 that often.
