I bought this used about a month ago. Looked to be in good shape. Seems to be accurate. The timing, I think, is OK. But after firing a cylinder-full of rounds, I can't get the spent shells to come out without a REALLY hard smack of the ejector rod. It's like the casings swell tight within the cylinder after firing. This happens with WInchester Super X and some Russian Surplus.

In the field, all I had was a brass bore brush and some WD-40 that I used to try and clean out each chamber of the cylinder. This did not seem to help.
Also, I notice that every now and then, the extractor slips under the rim of at least one of the empty cartridges, and so I have to push it out with a cleaning rod.

All my other revolvers are or have been Smiths. Never had this kind of problem. What do you think is going on?? Thanks, friends.

The chambers could be rough and needs polishing. A chamber finishing reamer will make quick work of that.
First get a tight fitting brass cleaning brush, chuck it in a varible speed drill and give them a thorough cleaning.

I had one of these POS a couple years ago. Same thing happened to me as well. One day I made the mistake of banging the ejector rod against a table at the range to get the cases out (forgot to bring a rod). After that it started to hit me in the cheek with pieces of lead and some of the chambers wouldn't fire consistently. Then I made the mistake of sending it back to taurus. After a month and a half it came back with a montrous trigger pull that I couldnt budge with 1 finger... and it continued to hit me with pieces of lead. I gave it to my friend and I think he ended up trading it for a 22 rifle.

Well, then they succeeded in restoring it to factory-new condition! I feel your pain; the DA on my stainless 94 is terrible, and the trigger blisters my finger in two places (? didn't know that was possible). I must admit that the SA is OK, and if I changed the grips it might be... no, I'd still hate it.

Try some Remington Golden Bullets. I get them here in 525 bulk packs for under $9. They burn clean and fall right out of my Ruger SP101 - and cycle perfectly in my Ruger Pre-Mark II. I got some CCI Blazers a while back that were very dirty, extraction was a bit stickier from the revolver, and jams with the auto occured about one in every 30 rounds.

So I'd try some different ammo first, and some polishing of the chambers next. If it still doesn't work right I'd consider trading it off for a Ruger or S&W. It seems the Taurus' are a mixed bag. If you get a good one they tend to be pretty satisfactory. But if you get one with problems, typically they never seem to get straightened out to the owners satisfaction.

PS: I'd recommend not forcing the ejector rod too much - and certainly not pressing it against a table or using something to force it. You can end up doing some significant damage that way. If that stuck, use a small dowl or something similar to push out the empties.
