I'm SICK of these Taurus bashing threads. They are NOT productive and really show who's an idiot.

They compare a "smith" to taurus stating that it is better built, only idiots don't know that taurus bought the revolver plant AND are using the SAME pattern as smith.

They compare a "beretta" to taurus stating that it is better built, only idiots don't know that taurus ALSO bought a beretta factory and use the SAME pattern as beretta.

THINGS CHANGE, GET OVER IT!

I got shot in the eye from a Dan Wesson 44 mag from the 3mm gap between the cylinder and barrel. Do you hear me complaining that DAN WESSON IS CRAP???!!

The TRUTH is...

Beretta Tomcats are worthless because the firing pin is a faulty design and breaks repeatedly.
Kimber 1911s are jam prone and will NOT feed hollowpoints.
Rock Islands are the same.
Glock in 40 s&w are THE MOST inaccurate handgun ever made.
Smith & Wesson in 40 are the most inaccurate handgun ever made.
North American Arms blow up in your hands.
Colt Python revolvers BLOW up in your hands.
Nighthawk 1911s will only feed ball ammo.
Springfield 1911s are JAM-O-MATICS.
Remington 870s are faulty designed will jam repeatedly.

The Truth is also...

When reading trashtalk on the internet (because it's all true), 99% of the time the poster states that he acquired a USED Taurus. Don't you think that said accuser had purchased SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM?!?

Dude. . . I'm sorry if you've got stock in Taurus but take it easy. If you want truth I have a friend who had bought his Taurus 1911 and the guide rod was all kinds of messed up, fresh out of the box. He had to send it back to Taurus and that took forever and a day. But the point is that just because someone doesn't like a brand that you like doesn't mean their wrong, it's just a matter of opinion. Another fact is that if all these people really didn't like Taurus and avoided it like the plague they would be out of business. And one more fact I've seen many threads on here with people suggesting a Taurus as a first 1911.

are these anecdotal evidence or you really own and experience all these problems from all the firerarms listed? just curious.

Fred,

You have to put up with the gun snobs. I have 4 Taurus revolvers so far and am very very happy with all of them. The only problem is they don’t say S&W or Ruger on the side. My friend says he will never buy a Taurus but loves to shot my guns every time we go to the range. It’s the same issue Savage had for years. People put too much stock into the name, some can not handle the fact that you can get a great gun for less money. And Demitrios sorry to hear of your friends luck. I have heard of some rejects making it to the shelves of Taurus dealers. This could be there biggest drawback, but in the same breath again I know people who have sent back Kimbers, Sigs, and Ket Tec, well Kel Tec is a bad example!

I don't understand the bashing.... I had a Taurus 605bch (i believe that was the designation). I never had a single problem with it after thousands of every kind of .38 and .357 load you can imagine. That gun probably gave me less trouble than any other i've owned.

Oh great, another Taurus thread (Shudder).

Something tells me this thread will produce similar results...that's all I'm gonna say.

I've owned four Taurus revolvers. Still own three of them. Never a problem. Zero. And to make it easy for everyone, yes, I'm an idiot.

I'm not bashing Taurus in the least, I was in the market for a PT 24/7 (before I found a beauty of a Dan Wesson for $300 :D). But I was trying to be fair that like all critics there is some validity to said label. Hey, my S&W M&P 9mm is a terrific piece but the slide kept rusting and rusting and rusting and then out of the blue the feed ramp wouldn't accept ammo at all. I didn't start bashing S&W I simply sent back my M&P and they fixed everything and I haven't had a problem since. Besides don't feel bad for me, It was my friends Taurus, not mine :D.

I'm closing this thread - not because of the topic (I have a number of PT92s and think well of them) but because of the emotion involved. If the OP wants to start a new thread with a civil and calm tone - I'd have no quarrel with that.

This is also a topic best suited for the Autoloaders forum.
