Taurus gx4

I've never owned a Taurus, can't recall ever having shot one, and haven't paid real close attention to their offerings over the years. That's not a slap at Taurus, but it is my caveat. With all of that said, the GX4 is (for me) the most interesting pistol I've seen out of them in a long time. If they (GX4s) develop a reputation for reliability and the street price drops just a bit, my guess is that Taurus will sell a ton of them. That's good for Taurus, and good for us consumers.

It looks like my PT145 and a Springfield Hellcat got it on. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I was considering a G3c for a 9mm carry gun. That Gx4 looks awful tempting.

I have a Taurus PT-132 Pro In .32 ACP that is awesome, A buddy had a PT-145 (?) in .45 ACP that was real nice.

I agree with your assessment.

I ordered a GX4 out of pure curiosity today. I won a G3c at a banquet a few months ago, been a fine pistol. I've got two TX22s that run flawlessly. We'll see how it compares to my Hellcat. I ordered the 13 round mag from Taurus, supposedly they're all MecGar so that's a plus.

Taurus: 1
S&W: 0

I still can't order spare Shield Plus mags unless I get them through Gunbroker. :(

Picked up a gx4 locally last week. Very nice gun. Shoots well. I find it easier to shoot than a sig p365 or a hellcat.
It's a small gun, but easier to grip than the sig or Sa, at least it was for me.

I was able to coon finger one last week. Really like it! Really love that removable back strap! Are you listening Sig!?!?

Like others have said before, it reminds me of the TX22 and for all the good reasons. Taurus has a winner here. So much that if they wanted, they could drop the G2/G3 lines and concentrate on the G4X and the TH lines and make a big dent in the market. Take the GX4 trigger, put it in the Spectrum and offer it in a 10 round capacity of 32ACP goodness, pipe dream for sure. Imagine a full size and long slide versions of the GX4 would really kill Glock/Sig/SW’s share especially at the price they can offer it. And lower prices will make other drop their prices.

Dear Ruger, maybe you need to start copying Taurus instead of just remaking slightly better Kel Tec designs?

Sure a TORO version of the GX4 is in the works along with a longer slide maybe. I don’t blame Taurus for not offering such options right from the start. Unlike the regular sized RDSs, with the RMR footprint being somewhat standard, the micro RDSs seem to be had three or foot different footprints. Seem logical to sit back and see which one comes out the leader and if another footprint emerges. The Mirco RDS market is pretty much wide open with the RMRcc being damn near too big for most micro pistols. Holosun “K” series is a strong contender, and this is coming from an RMR snob.

Plus, it’s a small micro pistol. Alot of folks still don’t see a need for and RDS. We are gun enthusiasts and shooters and a lot of us don’t see a need for a RDS on such a small pistol. And we are not really all that kind to Taurus! LOL So I don’t fault Taurus for keeping cost down and simplified productions.
